Hi Rob
As its an Australian Military Forces badge its got to be 1948 to 1953 as they became QC after that. Sorry no Idea who wore it but I'd put about $200 on it and Im interested if you are selling. Regards Phil. |

I am very interested to find out about it too. Rob is it cap badge or collar size? It sure looks like a very nice badge to be a fake. I might have thought of it being a Danbury Mint badge but am not aware of them doing Australian badges - but theirs do have blades like that.

Interesting. Being collar size one would think nurses badge, but the blades would make that unlikely.

I have seen these before (they were still current when I started collecting!) and never discovered exactly why this particular variation had blades rather than lugs. I just assumed Armoured Corps or Scottish regiments.
A scarce pre-war Australian Instructional Corps set exists in WM, which I was told was worn in Scottish regiments The three main post-war AMF makers were Amor, Stokes and Luke (both KC and QC) but I never completed sets by all three makers in gilt, WM and oxidised. Most oxidised AMF rising suns were Amor which I was told were worn by recruits in training before being assigned to their unit. Nor sure if there was ever a Stokes set in WM but definitely Luke and Amor. |
