Default AFV cap badge Question

Recently acquired a AFV Centre cap badge which has a piece of "green" felt backing. Can anyone tell me the significances of the green backing.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim, the usual backing was black, but the Canadian Armoured Corps colours were brown, red and green. (Through the mud and blood to the green fields beyond.) The green fits with that part of the Corps.

Thanks Bill

Appreciate the info, figured there had to be some logical reason for it.
