Let's hope. Noting your sig by the way. I knew a couple of guys who were at Jadotville. Both from ROI of course. They were also at Niemba. They packed in the IDF after some leave in Cyprus to recover and then signed up for the BA - Rangers I think, but they eventually finished up with us lot in the QRIH.

I'd say some of them fellas would have great stories! BTW, have a look for the book The Siege at Jadotville - you'd think it was fiction if you didn't know it was true!

Yep, got the stories and saw a lot of pictures too. I think I've actually read the book a long time ago but it's maybe time to read it again.

The guys who came to us btw were some of the cutest hoors soldiers I ever met. There wasn't a trick they didn't know.

Got to apologise. I was sending you to the IWM site to search for medal index cards when I should have been directing you to the British National Archive. Try a search on this link. Full. instructions there for doing it. If you find what you think is the right card it'll cost you a quid or two quid to get the card but that'll have his army number on it which will help more than anything else. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/r...-cards-ww1.htm

Be patient. Do that search at the British National Archive and see what it throws up.

I had a look but there are literally hundreds of John Dohertys and no John James...
