The picture with the horse and leicestershires could be pre war terrotorial? Could the picture with the 3 from the 4th hussars also be pre war do you think or is that definitely ww1?

When the Leicestershire Yeomanry was disbanded in 1917 most of the men were sent either to the 4th or 16th Hussars. That might explain the Leicestershire connection with the 4th Hussars

Michelle , welcome.
First let me say how genuinely lucky you are to have this album with the family connection , even if you have no interest in military history you really are fortunate to have this , there are some very helpful and genuine people on here ( as you have found out already ! ) if you can carefully check the back of the cards for hand written messages ? a date , a camp or a service number will be of great help to the guys on here trying to decipher it all .

Hi NEMO,
Yes we are really lucky to have this album it's incredible how these pictures have survived all this time! We have already checked the backs and there is literally nothing on any of them that would give us any indication of who these people are. All I know is that the pictures belonged to my great-grandmother and the postcards are dated from about 1905 -1917 ish but I think some of the pictures are potentially a lot older like 1890s. There is a picture of a band I have attached which looks like the Leicestershires and it does have the number 96 written on it which is the only thing that there is written. So someone said that the picture with the horse could be pre war territories, could this be the same? Thought 96 might be 1896? |

The 96 is just the photographers reference.
the photo dates c. 1910. FYI postcard photos didnt exist until c. 1903 ish. Before that photos were on thick card. regards

Ah I didn't know that. But the picture was definitely still before the war?
