Lincolnshire Regiment one-piece OSD cap badges - thoughts?
Hello all,
while I'm somewhat familiar with the two or more piece Lincolnshire Regiment 'star' officers' cap badges in their various incarnations, could I ask what the current thinking is regarding the single-piece variant that also crops up quite frequently? I know that a few of them feature in albums on here (and they are bar far the most often encountered type on eBay, etc.), but are they actually legitimate? This is the sort of thing I'm referring to: Lincolns OSD cap badge Cheers, Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Sorry I am not a great fan of the one-piece OSD Lincolnshire capstar badge. These were for Officers and I think they would need to be of far better quality. The quality ones are two-piece with blades and are often makers marked. I have no issue with loops over blades as both are genuine and there is no issue with quality etc with different manufacturers having different dies etc as noted for a number of OSD badges. I will now need to hurriedly address the captions io some in my Lincolnshire album. Cheers Dean. |

Cheers Dean, I must say that chimes with my thoughts on the matter, but I'll freely admit that I'm barely at novice level when it comes to badges, so will always defer to those with far more experience than me on the subject!

Thanks for the comments chaps, much appreciated. I'd only used that listing as an example to illustrate the type I was talking about - that one looked 'orrible even to me

Your welcome Kevin,
If you want a laugh read some of my early posts - I regularly got collars confused with cap badges but have learnt and try to give back on the Forum after learnt so much from experienced collectors. Cheers and yes avoid the fakes/copies/reproductions from that part of the UK, Dean |
