Default CWAC... but what is it?

This small cloth patch came in a lot of CWAC material. But, what exactly was it for?

Bill, What character is that again on the CWAC badge, some Greek idol or god? And is it on any British badge. I have never seen anything like this before, the background colour is strange also, you would almost think it Navy, being black

It's Mars or Minerva, found on the Artists' Rifles badge (Mars and Minerva)!

Image quality isn't the best on this one. "Minerva" is embroidered in buff/white on a dark brown.

If it is dark brown it could be CWAC .I have (or had)a Canada title from the CWAC's on dark brown. I will show it here.

You can see the two there that is not khaki, both are brown, one more so than the other.

Hi Ray, The corps colour used by the CWAC was beech brown, a dark chocolate brown colour. Nationality titles, rank badges and the corps title were all embroidered on that backing. The embroidery was done in both a buff colour (very early in the CWAC history) and later a yellow / gold embroidery. However, that doesn't answer the initial question about what the embroidered Athena was used for?

Just a quick check on the internet reveals that the goddess Minerva is the Hellenic Roman equivalent of the Greek goddess Athena.

Bill, do you know Doug Townend here in Ottawa (Orleans)? He collects CWAC badges and uniforms. He`s not a member of the forum (unless he`s operating under a pseudonym), but if you PM me I can pass on his email if you don`t have it. David

Thanks Phil & David. I am in contact with Doug Townend on a somewhat regular basis, and have passed this on to him previously.
Thanks for the thoughts on this as a blazer badge Phil.
