Default Quarter Master Gen SM

Hi All
I bought this online a while ago and a friend thought it may be a repro. Can anyone tell me if this is a genuine one or not? The back is pretty messed up with prestick, obviously from where it was displayed, so I'll have to clean that up a bit.
Any advice on how to remove the stuff?
Thanks in advance. Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Looks very genuine to me and a nice bullion version. Maybe your friend suggested it been a copy so that he could persuade you to part with it

As for the prestik/ticky tacky/bluetack, I have tried using some fresh prestik to gently agitate the old untill it becomes tacky again and then comes off. It still however leaves a thin layer of the stuff. You could also try and freeze the prestik with some ice and then gently chisel it off with a sharp scalpel.

I am sure there is a product out there that may clean it off completely, but I am not aware of it here down South.

Regards
Steven

One way to remove blu-tack type material is to put the item in the deep freeze for a few hours. This hardens the blu-tack which can then be crumbled off with your thumb nail. That's the theory, anyway...
Above all, don't use a solvent or you'll get it soaking in.

Hi Alex

It looks good to me. I have one given to me by the last SM of the QMG when it was disbanded.

I had one of the slip-on general's ranks from the last QMG as well but that disappeared somewhere along the way.

Regards
Craig

Alex

I heard Dry Ice works well, instant freeze and it can be picked off.

Badge looks fine to me.

Thanks Brian, just don't know where to get the stuff. Does it work with Captain's and coke as well...
