Default Kimberley Reg officers badge

Hi All
Today's aquisition,a nice 2-piece KR officers badge, which is a variation I haven't seen before, I thought these were all 1-piece badges. I have attached a photo of it alongside the one piece badge as well.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex, I have 2 of these, neither are 1 piece. The one looks much older than the other. I think that they were used for a long period with more than 1 manufacture run. A nice piece to get as I don't think that they are common. Regards Andrew

Given the strong Scottish influence in the regiment, could this not be a sporran or bandsman badge as worn in the pipe band, etc?

Hi Will
No, from what I understand, the bandsmen wore a standard pattern badge which was chromed up until the late '60's, early '70's and then just the regular badge. These were reserved for officers.
Cheers,
Alex

Herewith the same badge as worn on a beret. The ex owner joined the SA Navy and was a colleague.

Hi All
Another question on the KR officer badges. The 2-piece badge has a brooch pin which looks original to me, but the 1-piece has lugs. Can anyone tell me if the brooch pin was standard on these badges?
Thanks in advance. Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex, mine both have lugs. The older one has shorter lugs, and the newer one has longer lugs. Regards Andrew
