Default !7th/21st Lancer Band

The attached may be of interest. Taken in Hyde Park at the Combined Cavalry OCA Parade. Not sure which year but I suspect it was the early days of the Band of the Royal Lancers which was the band that followed the amalgamation of the 3 Lancer Bands [9th/12, 16th/5th & 17th/21st] as the original band uniforms were still in use.

Default czapka plate

Interesting Thread
I see Dicks three plates the middle all brass one is one I have never seen did it come direct from Regiment?.
I only ask as I restored a lot of kit for the Regiment and never saw an all brass one.
Very interested in its origins Dick if you can shine some light on it please.

Best Mac

Default Brass Plate

Mac, sorry I do not know the heritage of the all brass plate and I've always been uncertain of it. I think I bought it quite some time ago from a stall at the War & Peace show at Belringe Kent.
I see from the above posts that GRIFFMJ also posted a picture of this type of plate and Slick Mick posted a picture of something looking very similar on behalf of 'Griff"? [if it is the same Griff the plates shown are not the same one in each pic.]
I will be interested to see what can be uncovered.

Hi Dick

The plate that Mick posted photos of is mine, I picked the plate up from an auction a couple of years ago near Geelong in country Victoria. See my previous posts above.

Good to have made contact with you.

Regards

Phil.

The plate that dick and Griff have were the motto and scroll are not chromed and are all brass I am informed were an off shoot from the original never issued but sold by a gentleman early to mid 1980,s.

The original glass fibre czapska's were supplied by Don Speake Ltd of Greenford in around 1982.
I was involved in manufacturing the replacement ones from 1993 for the band of the Royal Lancers via Firmin's, who did the metalwork, while I supplied the actual hats to another company who were subcontracted to Firmin.
