Default Watch Lists

I use the "watch list" on eBay for various reasons :
  1. Items I may later bid on , depending on how high bids go.
  2. Items that I want to know current value.
  3. Items I like/want but feel current price is too high , especially 'buy it now'.

One benefit of this is that I have received "special discount offers" from the sellers on a few items , either because the seller is after a quick sale or an item has been listed for a long tiime with no offers/bids.

In the past 2 weeks I have bought 3 items with discounts of 13% , 28% and 46%

Sometimes it pays to sit and wait !

I agree completely with the reasons you give for using the ‘watch list’ but in addition I would say that it is interesting to use a watch list in order to see how much interest is shown in a badge and by whom. The pattern of bidding also proves useful. How often do you see a bidder who puts in an early bid and loses the badge right at the end as a ‘sniper’ swoops in. Also, often you see a badge attracting no interest even with a fair opening bid....then a flurry of bidding right at the end. One can always ‘take out’ a dealer hunting for those hidden gems.....however, snipers are a different breed. I have also had contacts made from a seller with a discount offered and as Tesco would say ‘Every little Helps!’.
