Just wondered how many known dates and makers there are for the WW1 GS badge please?

A possible starting point would be the Charlton Standard Catalogue of First World War Infantry Badges, which indicates the following manufacturers of the General List Badge: Lees, Roden, Scully and Tiptaft.

However, you could also take a look at Chris Brooker's WW1 CEF Insignia, Part 1 Introduction between pages 17-48 (hosted on the Canadian Soldiers web site) for a more detailed description of the General List badges (cap, collar and shoulder title), which can be found at:

http://canadiansoldiers.com/insignia...troduction.pdf

I'm sure others far more knowledgeable than I could contribute to the discussion, assuming it is one worth taking forward. Either way, I hope this helps, whilst also trying to answer the question raised.

Regards,

Lovat
