Default Earl Of Chester's I.Y.

Opinions please on this badge. I know the lug and tang are correct but other examples I have seen have the w/m scroll attached separately. Is this just a maker.s variant or a fake? Many thanks Denis

Thanks Luke for your prompt answer, is it because of the joined scroll and is this a common fake? Regards Denis

Thanks for your replies all and interesting links. From studying the originals it appears that the genuine ones have a flat, not seeded, base behind the ICH DIEN and with bars on it. Pleased I checked as I was about to buy it! Denis
