You would really need to see the back but it looks OK from the front. Not a bargain at that price though. I would not bid on it unless the seller provided you with a pic of the back. I would be looking for a fully die struck badge, with period toning and a slightly tapered slider.

Here's what I consider to be a proper one. One thing about this badge is more often than not they've been polished almost smooth and trying to get a good one is extremely difficult.

Yes Keith I am in total agreement there. I posted a thread on another forum to describe my disappointment with squaddies polishing nearly all badges I have seen for this unit

Still looking for an unpolished one.

This is my one. Hardly polished but slightly dented!

Bearing in mind the slider has been replaced I would be prepared to pay £3-4 for it as a gap filler. Any more and you are wasting you money. Even if it had been properly done then I don't think it is worth much more than that in that condition.
Bit naughty of the dealer not mentioned the botched repair at the price he is asking. He also has some 'creative' (ie wrong) descriptions of some badges. How you get a bi-metal '1916 economy' badge is beyond me!

A cheap and looks quite original 3rd Hussars badge should you still be after one.

looking through their other stuff we see this old chestnut, which should begin to tell you something remember the shallow scroll on the originals ? see earlier posts in this thread - of course it doesn't guarantee the 13th H badge is from the same "school"

Here is my 3rd King's own Hussars pre 1921 badge. It looks OK to me. Any comments please?

Cheers
Chris

So, you want to say that the badge of 13th Hussars can be original?
Where I can buy the genuine 19th Hussars badge with Daneborg Cross?

ChrisR - your 3rd Hussars looks ok to me - the design and the sldier are all correct - a bit shiny but OK.

The 13th side cap badge has been faked to death and I do not have one that I am happy with. I would be looking for a solid backed badge with a Gaunt mark on the main badge. These were colar badges originally and had sliders added later.

Was the one from Aus genuine - probability would say no.

Thank you Alan. That confirms what I thought but wasn't sure.
