Looks to me to be the OR's shoulder badge for The Royal Canadian Regiment, worn around the turn of the 20th cent.

I guess my reply to your post was deleted in the recent forum upgrade. Just in case you missed it, the reason I knew it was the RCR shoulder badge (1894-1902) is because I am ex-RCR and collect to my regiment along with others. Attaching a pic of part of my regiment's badges. Two examples of subject badge are top centre with hat badge and button. Ian
