I have never seen a metal badge worn, including the comparable style bi-metal badge widely described as a Warrant Officers Cap badge, originating from Gaylor.
It is not a cap badge, not anything to do with Warrant Officers either, and is a 2nd Bn. band pouch badge.

Thank you Simon. I wanted to make sure we hadn’t missed a variant for our uniformology.com series on the round forage cap of that type.
I have definitely seen photos of subject badge being worn by the battalion HQ staff sergeants on the subsequent 1905 coloured universal forage cap.
