Is it just me who immediately thought of Captain Blackadder when this was posted?

A really nice rare photo by the way!

Hi all, a really interesting thread thanks. I'd been doing some digging into the Intelligence Corps during WW1 and had the exact same question about badges.

The IWM has a number of photos of Int. Corps officers clearly wearing the badge of the General Service Corps, I've posted an example. The Int. Corps Museum meanwhile, has a great picture of an OR from the 17th Lancers, also posted. He is wearing a light blue 'IC' brassard, to which he has attached his scout badge (first class).

My deduction from these is that some officers were assigned straight to the Corps after training, and were put nominally under or at least badged as the GSC. While some ORs were seconded, in which case the blue 'IC' brassard is used to mark them out. Though there seem to be other routes previous mentioned as well, and happy to hear corrections.
