A & S Highlanders - unmarked silver
I recently picked up this Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders badge. It was very black and one eventually gets to differentiate between silver tarnish and dirty white metal ( and to get it wrong where hope tries to trump reality ) This one tested positive for silver, so I cleaned it in silver dip to see if there were any hidden hallmarks. There weren't.
At first glance this badge is like KK698, except that it is more voided and the detail is much better. I guess that being silver, it is an officer's badge. Is this a known variant ? Regards Mike |

Hi Mike,
When these are fully fretted as in this case, I feel they are one of the most beautiful badges made. Stunning! Well done, Roy.
