Phil,
here's a good one, note the cat looks like a cat and not a cross between a drowned rat and a kangaroo! Note also the depth of the badge, the lettering and the seeding! Andy |

Malc,
although I'm not 100% sure on your example, from the image I would certainly say it's a "Keeper", I have seen a lot worse (like at the start of the thread!).. Best regards Andy |

For what it's worth Malc I think that one is ok, it's the same as the one I got from that collection in Canada, remember the ones with the screw soldered on the back ? Every badge from that collection ( that I saw ! ) was good so I am quite happy this is too, both have a small line on the top of the upright part of the letter E, same die mate ! As always though, this is only my opinion

Hi, I've been following this thread and it's been a good one. This is one I've been looking for as at present I have the post 1920 version. I've attached what I think is the actual pattern I need. Firstly what do you think and should it have the pin back? It looks like the good one's from Andy above and this is why it caught my eye.
Thanks |

I have my answer on the pin. Just spotted a pinless one in the galleries and it's the pattern I need 1908-1920. What's the teams take on it quality.
Thanks gents Simon. |

the fault mark in the e was the reason given to me for my existing example, now removed from album, being a copy, thats what set this whole thread off. So now i have a crap badge on the way!
regards phil

I think there's a bit of confusion here over the fault mark, on the ones I've seen called as fakes, it is down across the top right of the E, I believe !

Hi All,
Here are my badges for comparison. The brooched version which is probably a 1st Rossshire Highland Rifle Volunteers badge was found on a council rubbish tip at Oamaru, South Island. Cheers, Tinto |
