Royal Engineer GVR in Gilt
I recently brought this cap badge - Royal Engineer GVR, Gilt, no maker with a unusual "fixing" to the rear (Please see photo's) A very nice struck gilt badge.
Can you tell what this type of fixing was used for ?? Jerry

I would suggest a place setting, maybe for a conference?

Phil, rather ornate for a place setting, no where to attach a name card and if there were a number of RE officers......

Very nice, the gilt is 100%. The fixing is similar to a pagri badge fixing, seen on a few badges.

I've also seen this as a pagri badge, the triangle being pushed into the folds of cloth.

Thanks to all for your replies. I did not think of a Pagri badge. This is the first of this type of fixing I have seen.

Lovely badge. I can tell from the shape of the crown it’s made by Gaunt.

The most common types were brooch fittings, but others such as this are sometimes found. Very nice badge. CB

Here is my RA gilt pagri badge and it appears so identical at the rear that both must have been made by the same person.
