Default ROC KC metal cap badges

Hi,

Recently acquired the brass slider badge. I assume, it is probably fake as I have not seen this version before. It could be gilt but unlikely.

Would be interested to hear of any ROC collectors opinions.

Regards,

Graham

Possible it could have missed the chromium plating process.
Tony.

I have a white metal one from my grandfather's collection assembled in the mid 40's and it has a brass slider.

Nice assortment.

I did see it on eBay and was tempted as it is a bit of an anomaly to say the least.

Sliders were used on OR badges worn on the side cap, so having badges with a slider on is perfectly fine - I have a few - I have never seen a slidered officers badge. The FS cap I have with a badge on is a die cast officers one with East/West lugs.

Initially I am inclined to agree with tonyb - it looks like this badge has missed being chromed. However from memory all my OR slidered badges are white metal (nickel) rather than being chromed, so as I said a bit of anomaly.

I meant to add, that in regard to KC ROC badges - the one that appears to be missing is a Die Cast OR version.

Default ROC KC metal cap badges

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies & views.

Having seen that example that Wooffy kindly posted, regarding the smooth backed lugged white metal cap badge, I went to my collection and was pleased to find I already had one hidden away. From memory, I believe my single example came in a large job lot of ROC KC cap badges.

Also, having looked at my 2 slider badges I have noted that both are non voided in the area where the 'figure arm' is looking out. All others versions I have seen are voided. This would go along with the notion that my brass slider missed the whitening process.

I have seen others for sale with brass sliders but these are voided.

I wonder if both slider types are genuine and if has anyone variations to these slider badges?

The white metal slider close-up attachment is an example from elsewhere as mine does not properly show the non voided area due to the askew position of the slider.

Regards,

Graham

Interesting observation on the voided /non-voided area.

There are three generally accepted different patterns of Beacon Lighter in the middle of the badge, although not all appear on KC badges. I've attached some pictures.

Type A - Clear pleats in the leggings and voided to the left of the neck
Type B - Smooth leggings and non-voided to the left of the neck
Type C - Skinny /Thin (Seemingly only on QC Badges)

I have looked at my slidered versions and none of them have the non-voided piece that yours has - looks like I need to secure one of them.
