Book appraisal
Hi guys
Does anyone know of a good place to get a book appraised for value? I have a rare, pre-WW2 German children's book, which I think could be worth quite a bit. I've checked eBay, but there are none currently for sale, or any reference to sold copies. Which I suppose figures, if it's scarce. I don't want to list it on eBay without knowing a sensible reserve price. Colin

Update
abebooks.co.uk don't seem to have a listing for this title. I'll send them an email in the morning. I can't find a phone number for Jamie Cross Militaria on their site. I went to an antiquarian book dealer this evening, and he'd never heard of this book before. He looked it up in a database and found a copy for offer in Denmark for 2000 Euros. That sounds promising Apparently, the Americans destroyed most of these books in 1945 due to the content, so few remain. From a historical/political point of view it's an interesting documentation of Nazi pre-war propaganda, particularly (and most disturbingly) because it's a children's book, but to be honest it's not something I collect to. I've decided that all proceeds from this sale will be forwarded to a charity, as I don't feel comfortable making money off of such an item. ( Also I feel that's a suitable f**k you to the Nazi NS propaganda machine ) Cheers Colin
