Unknown Badge
Hello I have had this badge in my possession for about 25 years and have never been able to find any information on it use, era or region(s) of use.
as Can be seen the badge is an overlay type on a police badge background. The badge is brass and blue enamel. I am thinking this may have been in use back in the days when folks had to have a licence to use a radio but nothing to back that up. The badge was found in Quebec City if that helps. Would appreciate your thoughts on this one. |

In the early years the federal Department of Communications (DOC) require the department to plan, authorize, adjust and police the use of the radio frequency spectrum to ensure the orderly development of radiocommunications for the nation and to co-ordinate those efforts internationally. This involves, as a principal objective, maximizing the total number of legitimate users of the spectrum while controlling the radio interference each user may suffer. To achieve this objective, DOC must have jurisdiction over such things as: radio frequencies, bandwidth, emissions, and power and direction of the signal; time of operation and station identification; technical standards and other requirements for radio apparatus; antenna location, height, type and other properties; and, in some cases, operator proficiency. I suspect thet this badge was made and issued to the person doing the inspection

Hi Ron thanks for your thoughts but the entity you mention is of course federal while the badge is clearly provincial. This would suggest to me that the authority that issued the badge was not federal. Of course I do not know for sure either
