Default Leeds Rifles and Buckinghamshire Btn badge for review.

Hellos all

Once again I request that you pass your learned eyes over these badges and tell the good news (that they are real) or the not so good news (that they are not).

I personally think that they are restrikes/copies, but, as always, I look forward to hearing your opinions

regards

Default LEEDS RIFLES

Hi there,
This is a difficult one with your Leeds Rifles, this is one of the regually copied badges. Usualy on lugs I would say straight away that it's a copy.

The one thing that stops me imediately doing that is the clearness and depth of detail on the rear of the badge, usualy lacking from the copies.

The proof of the pudding which I can not tell from the pictures is the thickness of the badge, real ones are quite substancial and are quite hard to bend, copies tend to be much thinner and tend to bend quite easily.

Hello Hammo.

thanks for taking the time to reply. According to your description, mine could well possibly be a copy. The badge itself is thin in profile, but is not able to be bent at all. However. where the crown joins the wreath, that is much easier to be bent.

I have uploaded a side profile picture of the badge ( excuse dirty big fingers) which should clarify it once and for all

regards

Hello Hammo and Alan

many thanks for your opinions. I did think it was a copy. The person I bought it off was straight up with me from the beginning and said he wasn't sure if it was genuine or not. I took it on the off chance that it was genuine.

Anyway, did not pay much for it so no problems there.

Any opinions on the Buckinghamshire badge?

many thanks once again

Sorry, Leeds Rifles badges are in my comfort zone (I have 200 or so), Buckinghamshire ones are not I'm afraid.

Billy,

after looking at your photos and comparing my badge, I am leaning towards mine being a bad un. The lettering on the rear of my one does not have the same definition as yours and the slider isn't the same length (though that might be a manufacturers thing), but the lack of definition is more worrying in my book

many thanks for the photos

regards
