Thanks Alan, that’s good. So the next question is as a general rule of thumb, is it that he is RAMC attached to R.Anglian Regt. Or is it the other way round

In the TV series "Our Girl" they show the lead character, Molly Dawes, who is a medic armed just like the men in her unit, and she is often shown firing it at he enemy. I gathered form that medics were now allowed to carry a weapon and join the fight.

I do realize this is just a TV show, but to me it seems pretty accurate and well done.
