Default Barrow & North Lonsdale V.T.C

Hi Gents,
Opinions wanted on this gilding metal cap badge to Barrow & North Lonsdale V.T.C.
This badge has been faked to death and is generally found in white metal.
My badge appears to be of a high quality and appears to be be a far superior strike than the white metal badges I have handled.
The gilding metal badge does have a lovely patina and I feel is period.

The badge has no lugs / slider & never has had any fittings on it.
There is also a cracked die or a tooling error? on the reverse of the badge from the inner circle to the letter "E" of Lonsdale.
Hopefully there is a V.T.C guru out there who can throw some light on this badge
Your opinions will of course be appreciated.
Colin

It’s identical to the one in Martin Marsh’s repro catalogue - rounded ToysRus letting, coarse seeding, all rectangular and evenly spaced jewels in the crown’s band. The flatness and lack of fine detail to the crown’s lines too, all typical of 70’s fakes. 100% sure it’s a fake despite knowing nothing about VTC badges.

Thanks Luke for your comments. Not a very good piccy from Marsh's
Catalogue to tell for sure.
Was the badge in w.m or gilding metal in Marsh's catalogue?
Does anyone have a real one with any provenance?
Many Thanks in advance.
Colin

Colin I’m 100% sure from the pic. I’ll check but catalogue reads like he’d do you a variety of metals.

Colin,

Biggest tells are lack of seeding to the centre circle, and the coarse script spelling out VTC.

The picture referenced by Tony is a good one, and there is another picture in one of my VTC albums (just type VTC in the 'All Albums' search bar), ex Hugh King.

Best regards,

Tim
