Default 15/19 Hussars Shoulder Titles

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if these shoulder titles are the ones worn between 1922 and 1934 by OR's.

I have checked Ray Westlake's book and I think they match number 156 however the picture is very similar to the smaller officers version and no sizes are given.

Hi All,

I've discovered a pair on line that are 51mm long so I'm now assuming these are the smaller officers ones.

That leads to another question, can anyone tell me what cap badge the officers wore in the early 1920's? Was it a bronzed one like the OSD's of WW1 or something else?

Thanks a lot,

Michael

Hi Michael

Looking at the photos above the shoulder titles have the flat hex lugs which I believe carried over post amalgamation, so Id believe that they are early post the 1922 amalgamation.

Hope that this helps.

Regards

Phil.

Hello Michael

Your Titles appear to be OR's, their size is 14.7mm high 42.8mm wide, they were I believe introduced to be worn on Battle Dress, and according to 'The Dress distinctions of the 15th/19th Kings Royal Hussars' (1961) were a private purchase from PRI. Officers at that time wore XV.XIXH.

Therefore, I would suggest the larger 15/19H titles were worn during the period 1922 - 34.
Although, I don't believe its clear exactly when, the composite regiment as it was up until c.1929, relative Squadrons ceased wearing 15H & 19H titles. Was it then or earlier?
If anyone has the definitive answer to this I'm sure we would all be grateful to know.

I hope this is of help.

Rob
