Possible Flying club wing
I would be grateful for some help in identifying this wing I acquired in a job lot.
At first I thought the RFC reference was to do with the Royal Flying Corps, but that is probably unlikely. It is possibly a flying club badge but I have no idea which one. I did see a reference on an earlier thread to a book about Civil Aviation wings for sale on Amazon, but I can't justify buying it for this one wing at the moment as it may not feature in the book. The wing looks to be quite well made, but I am unsure of the period although the red crown suggests pre 1953 and possibly some Navy connection. Thanks Terry, both are USA though and I would have thought the red Kings crown would have a UK Royal connection which would possibly be Royal Flying Club, although I can find no reference of such a club.
Failing any more suggestions I guess I've drawn a blank with this one. It does however appear to have been worn, with the reverse having a flat appearance after having been on a uniform, which made me think it was a genuine badge and not a fantasy piece. Cheers, Jack.

The Rural Flying Corps was a club which operated for many years out of Bourn Airfield in Cambridgeshire, but has been recently wound up as a result of the Covid pandemic. They may have used an amended RFC wings badge, but there is nothing online to confirm this.

I'm still puzzled by this one, for me it's RFC, I can't really see it as anything else.
I am wondering if there is any Royal Flying Corps connection, perhaps the red crown and cypher backing relating to the Navy arm of the RFC before the formation of the RNAS in 1914, did they have their own wing while under the RFC control? Are there any RFC collectors who would like to comment on this please? Cheers, Jack.

In studying the photo, I see it as RFC, The R being first with the F as an overlay and slightly larger than the R and C. I wonder if there might be anybody you could contact at the Rural Flying Club?

A quick update on this as I have now received an email reply from the Rural Flying Club. They have no knowledge of this wing which was as expected, due to the fact that they were only formed in the 1970's and the wing has a Kings crown.
I will post it in the RFC section and see if anyone there can shed any light on it. Cheers, Jack
