Default South Nottinghamshire Hussars

Good afternoon,

I have this cap with a SNH cap badge, anodised, by Gaunt. Is it a genuine one and, if so, who wore it ? I have seen a photo of a musician of the band who seemed to wear this cap during the final parade of 307 (South Notts Hussars Yeomanry) Battery in 2014.

Thank you

The NSN in 2005 equates to;
Worn by Queens Royal Hussars, Light Dragoons, 15/19 Hussars, Queen’s Own Yeomanry (D and Y Squadron). Royal Wessex Yeomanry (B and D Squadron).

Would that be with the same plain buttons for all of those regiments?

The HMVF site gives this prefix NSN as being in use from at least 2003 - at least 2010 (their list of clothing and equipment codes is not at all precise, but useful).

Buttons and chin strap are not included in the item package. Regimental tailors or individual soldiers fix their own particular buttons etc.

Thanks, I thought not, just wondering if the plain button was worn by all or just some of the regiments.

Why not drop an email to the QRL museum they also have the 2 Notts yeomanry regiments in their museum. Talk to Mick Holtby, the regimental curator. Hes a good bloke and sure to be able to help.

Regards

Phil.

A very nice old badge!
Is it original to the cap?

Looking at the cap itself, which appears to have very little age, I would think the badge cannot be, as it is considerably older.
