The oval shape for the White Cap seems odd. Anything related to the Sennet Hat? I see a white hat cover is mentioned. Regards, Paul.

I seem to remember had something to say about the naming of His Majesty's Ships. Something along the lines of, we have to stop naming our ships after flowers as we cannot send our sailors to their deaths in ships called H.M.S. Pansy and the like, it is not good for morale.

This is obviously not an exact quote and I am sure that the correct wording is out there somewhere down the back of the internet.

I think that it is almost certainly referring to the Sennet Hat.

I have now found the maker's details on the cap tin, not on the bottom but on the front below the locking hasp.

I cannot make it all out but the manufacturer's name seems to be Sulph...., Birmingham and the tin is dated 1919.

I have the tin for my 1880's 11th Hussar busby, so I'll have to have a look at it. This is a very interesting thread!
