Very well done Dean. I know the time an effort that goes into assembling such a Yeomanry collection in the 2020s! No mean feat. Nearly there!

Dean, I'm sorry to be a pain but your Essex Yeomanry badge is the 1905 to 1909 IY pattern with the "Audacter et Sincere" motto. You need the one with the "Decus et Tutamen" motto (1909-1916).

Thanks Hoot,
Michael Wood's excellent book on the "Badges and Insignia of the Essex Yeomanry" notes that the earlier IY pattern in gilt and gilding metal was worn through to at least 1909 and unofficially until the end of the Great War. A bronzed version was worn from 1915. I have stuck with the gilding metal example on this basis as a number of my badges including this one came from a contemporary 1914 collection. I should as you suggest swap it out but as it came from my inherited collection it makes me think twice. It's a fine hobby for stretching the 'what badge when' rules as I often do, cheers Dean

Dare I say it is complete
Hi all,
Added in a genuine Queen’s Own Glasgow Yeomanry and a Worcestershire Yeomanry cap badge and an elusive Middlesex Hussars (MH) shoulder title to replace a T Y County of London. The MH titles were worn at the start of the Great War. Thanks to Keith Hook and Pat (aka Longdog). It has been a long and satisfying journey, cheers Dean.
