Post WW2 and certainly post 1966 the RAC badge would have been worn as a Cap badge by Boy Soldiers, JLR RAC, they had no "Badged" officers!

I see what you mean..... so its a case of no Officers badge made from this die set because there was simply no need for it?

Griff,
as Alan states above perhaps an officer(s) from a Cadet unit affiliated to the RAC may have purchased one, but I should imagine they are pretty scarce in either Sil or SP?

Being CCF, the officers on commissioning were provided with an allowance to buy their uniforms so they did buy No2 Dress, hats (berets in this case) and badges. Unless the School masters were ex-Services themselves, and could get permission to wear their old insignia, then they bought RAC uniforms.
