WW1 Kings letter to the Guards
Rather interesting that it is on the centenary of the start of the Great War but this afternoon I bought some WW1 medals and with the pair to 30018 Pte.J.H.Woodward G.Gds was a letter addressed to him at his home in Widnes and post marked 22 July 1920 (?)
The envelope is marked " A message from the King " and inside is a Buckingham Palace letter dated 22nd March 1919 with the facsimile signature of the George 5th. I don't know how common these are but I cannot recall seeing one before and I thought members might like seeing it. P.B.
