"On War Service 1915" - The enameled one is the earlier version, which changed to the cheaper plain brass stamped badge later in the year when the cost of issuing large numbers of the enamelled badges was realised. Issued to men engaged in essential war to protect men from being accosted by young women in the street who would hand them white feathers.
Mine is a Mappin and Webb Ltd

WWI War Munition Volunteer Badge, 1916-1918: issued by the Ministry of Munitions (MoM), to identify persons considered necessary for war work. The badge also identified the wearer as being exempt from call-up to active service.

Cheers

Colin

Hello,
The badge with two guns and a grenade is the cap badge of the French Infantry. This badge is worn today.
The blue badge, white, red is not military. This is a patriotic badge.
Best regards
Bernard

The tie pin with WRAC is for the Womens Royal army Corps (1948-1992). There were some butch girls in there with very sensible shoes but I don't remember many wearing ties in civilians clothes!

I knew a corporal who had his nose broken by a WRAC for dancing with her girlfriend .

Perhaps the badge is intended to be worn as a brooch?

1st pic, 3rd badge (enamelled) is an italian distinctive unit badge for the 15th Bergamo Division. The motto translated means "Bold and Ardent", expounding military aggression.

The TA lapel badge is a civilian dress badge for members of the Territorial Army, pre 1952.

It only exempted a 'war worker' as far as it suited the Ministry! Some men were considered unsuitable and released for conscription or 'other work' !

At the start of WWII my father worked in the cotton mills of Lancashire and was released by ballet to serve in the Army being replaced by women in what were considered male occupations. All workers released were volunteers as it happens. Cotton Mills were also 'Reserved Occupations' for the war effort.

Italian Googling provides a WW2 time frame for the 'Johnson Milano' backmark type.
