I rather like badges from exotic places ( well - exotic to me anyway !) , so when badges from little carribean islands come my way I am usually a buyer.
Here are a couple from the collection - I'll post a few more shortly. Regards Mike |

Nice collections Dave, thanks for sharing.
Just going off at a tangent: would the FIP have policed South Georgia in it's days as a whaling station? Best Graham

Royal Falkland Islands Police
Graham,
Yes, the Falkland Islands Police have always been responsible for South Georgia. At the height of the whaling activity the population of the island was about 2,000. The administrative centre was King Edward Point. The first officer to be stationed there was a Constable Whatley. Apparently despite the harsh conditions most police officers enjoyed the life there and stayed for many years. Constable Basil Biggs was posted there with his wife and children for 16 years. The last Constable to serve there on a permanent basis was withdrawn from the island in December 1969. Currently, police officers from Port Stanley visit as required. The head of the British Antarctic Survey is appointed the island's magistrate. Dave. |

Royal Falkland Islands Police
Thanks for the info Dave, much appreciated and I don't have to hunt for a "South Georgia Police" badge!
And thanks for posting yours Simon, I am rather envious of your Leeward Islands, but I only started collecting again a couple of years ago so something from that are will turn up. Graham
