Admiral's shoulder chains
I am far away in USA, knitting a Prince Charles doll, and wondering what is the significance of these shoulder chains he has hanging on his chest. Search engines have been no help. I found one reference to the Cavalry using chains instead of straps, but an Admiral doesn't have a horse he'd want to tie up with a line that couldn't be cut. I look forward to someone explaining to me what they mean to an Admiral. Thank you. Nequasset (Woolwich, Maine USA)

Hi,
try 'aiguillette' on google, here ?? I think these may be what you mean? Worn on various military uniforms, not just by Admirals. Cheers! Steve |
