Battle Dress
Can anyone confirm if the fabric used to make the 1950's battle dress blouse (1949 pattern) was the same as used in WW2 production (1942 pattern)?
(I appreciate there are significant differences in design) Thanks in advance John |

I suppose you mean British battledress, as there was different cloth used for the WWII battledresses e.g. Canada, India, Astralia and the USA.
Official description of British cloth used: Oct 1939: Serge SD No. 1 55" Pattern No. T 90 June 1942: Serge SD No. 1 55" Post War: Serge SD No. 4 56" So to answer your question, no. Rgds, fougasse1940. |

Assuming you do mean British Battledress the answer is yes but shades did vary even during the war.
Unfortunately the skill of manufacturing it has now been lost and none of the repro manufacturers have a cloth which is 100% correct shade/texture. |
