Hello Bill,
I'm not sure why you are typing in all caps? Regarding the pre 1908 badge, do you have evidence to refute the variant with the non-voided top link of the chain was ever used? See this thread http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...loucestershire Garry |

GLOUCESTERSHIRE / BRINSON
THE DIFINATIVE WORK ON THIS UNITS BADGES......'MILITARY INSIGNIA OF GLOUCESTERSHIRE' BY DANIEL BRINSON DESCRIBES ONLY TWO VERSIONS OF THIS I.Y. BADGE.....VOIDED PORT CULLIS AND NON-VOIDED PORT CULLIS.
ALSO VOIDED IN BRONZE AND ALSO VOIDED IN GILT FOR OFFICERS. HE ALSO STATES THAT PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE SHOWS THE I.Y. VERSION BEING WORN "LONG AFTER 1908" (SIC) |

Bill,
The discussion is not about the portcullis as it is well known that both types are correct. Does the author make a specific point that the end loops in the chain are only voided as that was your original question? Is it backed-up by photographic evidence? Garry p.s The caps lock intentionally left 'on' used in any Internet communication is deemed as shouting and used by Trolls to incite arguments and used by kiddies in 'Cruise Control' mode. I respectfully request you to tone down your posts by typing normally. Incidentally, October 22nd is Caps lock day http://capslockday.com/ https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/caps-lock-day/ |

HIGH CASE TEXT
I SEND MY MESSAGE IN HIGH CASE TEXT AS I ONLY HAVE FULL MOBILITY OF ONE ARM.......IT DOES NOT MEAN I AM SHOUTING.... THIS ! (THE EXCLAMATION MARK) INDICATES SHOUTING.
I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT PEOPLE FAMILIER WITH A MILITARY ENVIRONMENT WOULD SHOW SOME EMPATHY WITH ANYONE WITH ANY FORM OF IMMOBILITY (OR DISABILITY). THE POINT OF STARTING THIS STRING IS TO SAY THAT DANIEL BRINSON, WHO HAS OBVIOUSLY WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE MILITARY MUSEUM AT GLOUCESTER, STATES VOIDED OR NON-VOIDED....THERE IS NO MENTION OF 'PARTLY VOIDED' PLEASE ACCEPT THAT I AM NOT SHOUTING....I'M NOT A SHOUTING PERSON...NEVER WAS. BILL. p.s this is my last posting on this string so you are now free to make as many personal comments as pleases you. |
