Default 1st Patt. Tyneside Scottish.

Could members please give there opinions on the badge in the link I give. I have my doubts about it. Please post if you are sure it is a good example or a copy. Regards, Paul. http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30076860

Hi Paul, without seeing the back it's a tough one to say yes or no. I have to be honest, if I saw this pic on Ebay I would be taking a position of leaning towards taking a pass.

Here's mine. It looks more defined.

Pity they don't post the backs. A tough one all round to make a final decision on. I see your concerns.

Regards

Simon.

Hi Simon- Thanks for your comment. Its the thistle and leaves touching the O, C and N that I have thought as a sign of a good badge. On yours they clearly cross the inner circle on the right of the badge.
Thanks for posting a link to your badge. Regards, Paul. PS Also yours has a much better lion.

Well- lack of replies but I think all I can say about this badge is that if it was for sale I would not consider buying it and I would not be the only one on the forum thinking that way. Judge a badge on its own merits- not on who is selling it-or in this case the reputation of the museum that holds it. Regards, Paul.

I agree always buy badge not the source or story! Re the badge I agree not good. Looked at my example and all different. Mine is good like the right one illustrated on this thread.

I strongly suggest this badge be used as a reference for all others.

I was the vendor of this badge via Bosleys, it came from the 'Gaunt Archives.'

Default Got one! (At last)

A forty year wait, but worth it! And in answer to Paul's opening post I think the IWM example might be a reproduction!

I hoped for a brief moment I would be the only one to spot your badge in the ebay lot Andy. Regards, Paul.
