Default Canadian Armoured Corps flash / formation patch?

This badge came into a museum along with some ribbon fragments and the pay books, medal entitlement document and some other papers for B619198 Gdsmn. John Joseph DINEEN, 22nd Cdn Armoured Reg't (Grenadier Guards of Canada). Does anyone recognize it as Cdn military?

The collection of bits also includes prayer cards from various catholic shrines in france, so if not military, is it religious?

This is a military item...the Cross of Lorraine. Worn on the upper left sleeve by Canadians in the armoured Corps, by all ranks, but only in Canada. Not seen in overseas photographs. Circa 1942. A scarce badge in my opinion.

Default 2CTB insignia

Peter, it is Canadian. It's the sleeve insignia for 2 Cdn Tank Brigade.

See thread here for more info.

First pattern, 2 Canadian Army Tank Brigade, worn 1941-1942. There are at least two varieties of the same.

Thanks, gentlemen. I was subesequently nable to establish that he survived the war and went on to become a ships' captain on the Great Lakes, as his father had been. The badge and the rest of the stuff will be going to the musuem in Collingwood, Ontario where the Dineen family is buried.

Again, my thanks for your swift and knowledgeable responses.

Peter
