Default New to badge forum. Any ideas on the symbol

Would the seven flames relate to the Grenadier Guards or 12th foot regiment?

This is now on eBay, and having seen the reverse there i believe it to be a fake.

And even with the "overpolished" worn-through bits on the high points....

Nice!

Hi

Apologies for the late response, I am the seller of this Shako Plate on eBay. I purchased a high quality collection of badges from a deceased estate. A few of these Shako Plates were included. This collection was put together after WW2 and their are many items related to the Cape Frontier War included. If you would like to see more detailed pictures of the badge and the reverse, I will gladly supply.

Lee.

I believe you've missed the point of the last few of the replies.

In essence it is this: you joined as a new member, seeking information from the vast and varied collective pool of knowledge that are Members of this Forum.

Once information was gleaned, you placed the item on ebay.

At no stage whilst seeking information did you mention that the item was to be sold, at the very least you could have declared your intention and offered it in the first instance to Forum Members.

If you intend to carry on in this vein with other items, I suspect very little, if any at all, information will be forthcoming.

Regards.

Brian

Default Many Thanks

Hi Brian

I appreciated your message, thank you!

My actions are and were without any bad intention. I am as its known an eBay seller and have been doing that for the best part of 15 years, but have very few badges.

I did not wish to mis-describe an item which I believe is significant.

In the future I will make it clear if the item is for sale and will make this item available to forum members first.

Thanking you,

kind regards
Lee
