These have been widely restruck using the original dies and latter strikes are very ppor on the back as the dies are worn out. The 3 lugs are probably not right. I have a maker marked example which I think is correct with a long slider.

I am afraid that this is a more worn version of yours and it has the same 3 lugs.

The TA title only lasted from 1948-1955 so the number of genuine badges will not be great. I doubt the (TA) badge was worn from 1948 until old stocks were used up.

May I tack on a question please. In th einitial post there is a picture showing what looks like Stuart tartan as a backing. Would that be correct for this badge?

Sorry to hear it's been faked, but sounds like an A/A one would be OK?

Thanks,

Terry

Edinbugh UOTC does not wear that tartan but follows the Royal Scots style and headgear.

This purports to be one It is not in Chris Marsh's book so he did not record any evidence for its authorisation for production. The successor Q/C badge was sealed in 1963 which was 8 years after the TA title was dropped.

Perhaps it is the photo but I have a niggling doubt. I do wonder if it has been painted......
