The Canadian flag should not be there, we were never part of the multi-national force during the operations........in Afghanistan, yes but never in Iraq.

It looks like a 'PX issue' to me: lots of the recent multinational ops have had patches made up, often in theatre and usually worn only in theatre, I think. Not official but seemingly tolerated by those in authority. This looks like one of those to me. Can't explain the Cdn flag except as "Somebody goofed!"

The badges might be for civilian wear and handed out, either officially or otherwise but perhaps an American forces expert can say whether they are authorized uniform wear - don't look like it to me, but that's not my area really.

My tuppence worth!

With respect to the Canadian Flag on this patch....

Canada did have a couple of "military officers" attached to U.S. and British units in Iraq, These individuals were on attachment to US/UK units prior to the hostilities and stayed with them till rotated. We also had Canadian Police officers in Iraq at the time as well as well as Cdn. Government personnel in the "Green Zone." This is more than likely a "in theater" patch sold at the canteen in the Green Zone to represent all the nations that participated/had people "in country" at the time...These types of patches were common in theatres like Bosnia, Kosovo etc. as well

Yup, that's a challenge coin. US Marine embassy staff. Each unit will have one and senior enlisted/senior officers (Sgt Maj of the Army or Chief of Defense Staff) will have their own too.

General W.J. Natynczyk was serving in Iraq when I was there in 2004.
