On the other side of the coin, I have just been watching Lars Tharpe, who I always consider to be one of the more knowledgable " experts ", on the Antiques Roadshow.
Whilst what he was discussing was nothing to do with militaria, he did make the point to a very disappointed lady who thought she had found a bargain in some old ceramic plaques, that if an item is too cheap, it should be a warning sign.
It does appear to be an obvious thing to say but perhaps something we overlook when the possibility of getting an absolute bargain clouds our judgement
I know we all get the occasional bargains but if you see a rare badge on E bay or elsewhere that has an asking price that is a fraction of what it should be worth,that has to be at least a warning sign.
