Tom & Jerry,
Good question. Why is an American color guard leading this parade? The uniform being worn is the US Army dress blue uniform, so no unit patch. The middle flag could be the National Guard flag. That flag has a white background like the one pictured. The blue flag on the left of the formation could be a unit color. I can't tell from the picture. Or it could be a state flag. All national guard units are state units and it could be the flag of the state represented. All American embassies are guarded by Marines, not national guard, so, how did they get in this parade? Don

Educated Guess
Jo,
I think that you are right about the white flag - US Army. This leads me to an educated guess - this is not a National Guard color guard. If it were I would expect them to carry the National Guard flag. An Army reserve color guard would carry the army flag. It is hard to tell from the picture but the other, teal colored, flag could be the US Army Reserve flag. That would fit. I would expect that you can find enough army reservists working in the UK to form a color guard. They would have to practice to know what to do when told "about turn!" Not a US command. There is some video on UTube about TA 100 but not, that I could find, this particular part. Don |
