Bays WM Arm Badge Makers Mark Query
Here are x2 Bays WM arm badges.
The one on the left has a (makers?) mark (M.H.O.S) that I haven't seen before - and I am assuming that it IS a makers mark here..... I have included a picture of the 'normal' WM to highlight the 2 different dies and variance in quality. At first glance, the one on the left is very similar in appearance (wreath + crown etc) to the silver one shown in L&D's as 6.5A, whereas the one on the right is probably 6.5B. To my mind, the one I am showing on the left looks like it is from the 'silver die'. However, they both weigh 19gms. So, a) does anyone know of this mark and b) is it another Bays ArmB variety? Thanks, david Last edited by wright241; 30-10-10 at 02:08 PM. Reason: typo |

Bays HM Silver Arm badge
Hi Howard
Another early riser! This is the only time of the day my broadband will function at a reasonable speed!! Many thanks for the date. You wonder why 1934 was so special in the life of the Bays to justify such a special badge. Were they just off to foreign climes or even just arrived home again? I will do some digging. Best wishes Gordon |

Well actually, there was another batch ordered in 1932. they were a private purchase by the WOs and SGTs at that time. The Bays never had an actual HM silver badge issued in the early days and by the time they had binned the small WM collar sized arm badge and adopted this pattern, the HM silver arm badges were no longer being issued. I think they hankered after some! I have a number of Bays solid silver arm badges (both what i believe to be Indian made and UK made) but only the one HM version, I still seek the 1932 item.... fat chance!! lol
