Very fine and interesting pictures US. The aircraft is a Bristol Fighter, one of the most famous and finest aircraft of WW1. Did your grandfather survive the war ? and do you happen to know what squadron he belonged ? Anyway thank you for posting them. Regards Jeff

Yes, my grandfather survived, just. He was hit in the face with shrapnel in 1918 and lost most of his jaw and his left eye.

Thomas Pritchard (sadly no relation :-( ) was no.39 Home Defence, he got the MC for attemtping to shoot down a Zeppelin over london, he died of complications when his jaw was broken training a new recruit.
