Default Durham L.I. cloth title colour

I have two photos of my Father in uniform.
In the first one dated April 1944 he is wearing what looks to be the standard white on red Durham L.I. cloth title.
In the second one taken when he was in hospital in 1945 the edge of a darker coloured title can be seen.
Would this have been the yellow on green version or were there any other colour combinations?

Thanks,
Dave.

Default DLI titles

I think the 6th Btn wore DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY red on navy or dark green also a printed title exists D.L.I. red on green, which Btn(s) wore this, I would be interested in finding out.

I've seen white on red, yellow on green, red on green & red on blue in the past.
There are "Durham L.I." & "Durham Light Infantry" versions.

Does anyone have any information as to which battalion used which colour combination & for which period of time?

Concerning the second photo, I thought only the white on red was used in 1945.

Any help at all would be gratefully received.

Thanks,
Dave.

Dave,
Have you thought of taking a short train ride into Durham, the DLI museum’s well worth a look and maybe you may hit lucky regarding the information you seek.
Try phoning 0191 3842214.
If you have already done so, sorry for trying to teach you how to suck eggs!

I spoke to the secretary of the DLI Association today who informed me that the 6th Battalion wore red on black titles.
I'm hoping to hear back from him soon with details of the other Battalions.

I think I'll have a trip through to Durham later this week to the museum, I've not been for a while.

Hi, I got rid of a uniform some time back badged to the 4th div with red printed DLI on green, this would have placed it late '44 in Greece. I presume that would give you a clue to that Bat. Somewhere I have a copy of "4th Div" so could look it up if you want when I get home. Mike
