As far as I know , the only slouch hat New Zealanders wore in World War Two were Lemon Squeezers . That was at the start and then they changed to a few other hat styles , none of which were Australian style slouch hats .

Try the Indian Army or the Chindits , or some of the African units , or who ever .

You said that the hat was dated 1943. That photo of the Mackenzie Mounted Rifles is far older than 1943 .
A Lemon Squeezer is a slouch hat. The puggaree on the hat in your photo not a New Zealand 2nd World War one .
You are on the wrong track.

I know that New Zealand had and still has slouch hats , many of them of different shapes . I was the one that told you.

Why have you posted that link to an Australian military hat site that has nothing to do with your idea that the hat is a New Zealand one ?
This thread , isn't it about a British slouch hat ?

As Griff and Mike mentioned, it is for the RE. Is the SB missing as they are usually maker marked etc. Was this one on ebay for a long time?
