"Swan Necked" Slidered c.1916 Economy Badges?
The LSH Yeo badge shown below is one which I've had for several years and I have always been unsure of due to the uncommon slider shape! However the Essex Regt is one I picked up off ebay this week! I am now beginning to think that these could be examples of "Genuine" (?) badges from a c.WW1 manufacturer? The LSH is very well made with crisp detail and some "Soldiers friend" residue (pink and unlike the metal polish heaped on to modern fakes to make the appear used ). I have seen a few LSH badges with this style of slider but this is the first Essex and although the front has been more than well polished, the detail to the rear is quite crisp! On both badges the sliders are extremely sturdy despite their flimsy appearance and both very well made!!
Anyone have any thoughts or badges with this "Swan Neck" shaped slider? Andy |

Hi Andy,
The only badge with a hairpin / swan neck slider that I have is featured in this thread: http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ineers+unusual Images of the rear in post #4 and a possible clue to proveneance and age in post #24 from Tinto. Ry |
