Default CEF badge manufacturers

I have always been intrigued by the different finishes the different manufacturers have on CEF badges. Here is an example of the same battalion and the different finishes on the badges.

There are two documented makers of the 175th stetson ptn badge. Cook and Hemsley. Cross says Caron and Ellis, but I have not found badges marked as such.

I think the reference to Caron and Ellis means they made the shoulder numbers not the badges.

Hi Dan, I wish Cross had been clear on that. The maker attributions are very confusing. In some cases the makers are just wrong. It makes one think they simply picked a "number" and put it down.
